Trek for Hope

Join Peace House Foundation on an unforgettable adventure of volunteering at
Peace House Secondary School (PHS) and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to
raise awareness and money to educate AIDS orphans in Tanzania.

Participants on this trip will have the chance to work with PHS students for two days teaching English, playing games and doing work projects before embarking on the Kilimanjaro trek.

Destination Tanzania Safaris (Detasa) will guide the team on a private 7 day/6 night trek on the Machame route of Mount Kilimanjaro. Mount Kilimanjoro, known as the roof of Africa, is the highest mountain in the entire African continent at 19,340 feet. A seven-day trek will give the team plenty of time to acclimate and take in the beauty of the mountain. Even if you have not done much hiking, summeting Kilimanjaro is achievable with some preparation and the encouragement of fellow climbers!

Trip Details:

  • Each participant will raise $2,500 in donations to directly benefit the students at PHS. Peace House is committed to helping you raise these funds!
  • The fee for the climb is $2,000. This includes room/board, ground transportation in Tanzania, orientation for the trek, park fees, guide fees and gratuities for guides/porters/cooks, and camping gear (excluding sleeping bags and pads)
  • This does not include airfare, immunizations, visa costs, safari fees, or travel insurance.

If you are interested in the climb please contact Amy at amy@peacehousefoundation.org.
